Unlocking Geologic Hydrogen via Thermal Stimulation

GeoKiln is led by industry experts who pioneered subsurface thermal technologies at Shell and are now scaling geologic hydrogen production. Our process delivers low-cost hydrogen for <$1.50/kg without water injection, using in-situ water and iron-rich rock. Each production pattern can yield 30,000+ tonnes per year in a shale-like, scalable model, leveraging proven oil & gas drilling and stimulation methods.
Hydrogen is projected to become a $1.5 trillion market by 2050, yet current production methods remain too costly, inefficient, or carbon-intensive to scale. Geologic hydrogen has enormous promise, but exploration risk and slow commercialization have stalled the sector.
GeoKiln unlocks Manufactured Subsurface Hydrogen (MSSH) – an approach that is scalable, repeatable, and deployable anywhere. By applying proven oil & gas thermal stimulation to abundant iron-rich rocks, we produce hydrogen for <$1.5/kg, delivering the next energy revolution.
We target early geologic hydrogen explorers that have not yet reached production, mining companies and landowners seeking to de-risk acreage. With MSSH, we accelerate the path from discovery to commercial production through a scalable, repeatable model.
TRL 6-7– The chemistry is well understood, the hardware has been piloted successfully in even more intense operational conditions, and required geologic settings are well defined.
We are seeking funding and strategic partners for pilot demonstrations to accelerate initial deployments and establish early leadership in the $1.5 trillion hydrogen market.
